Surprise!

Fridge was purchased in June. It is a very good product. I had a 21 cu. ft. prior to this, wanted a top freezer model. After much research, it was narrowed down to Whirpool. The height and width is good for our space. The freezer is roomy enough. There were a couple of drawbacks though. First, when it was finally installed, I noticed that the door gasket did not touch the frame from the bottom 1/4 of the door on both sides and the bottom part of the gasket did not even touch the door. The installer immediately called the place where I purchased it, sent pictures and the next week a new gasket was delivered. The repair man said it was probably this way from the factory. Having let it sit for a week, did not even have the gasket touch the door. I propped a heavy box by the opening and that side finally adhered to the frame but could not do that for the other side and bottom. That issue has been rectified. Second, I had shelves on the door and this model has bins, with a shelf way down for tall bottles. Bins don't hold as much as shelves. I wish this had shelves. I had to rethink a lot of stuff for that. A loaf of American bread used to fit on the shelf and now it does not so it sits on top of the bin. You have to bend way down to get the bottles which are under the bins that protrude out. Third, the top two glass shelves are less wide to accommodate the bins protrusions from the door. Fourth, the sliding deli holder is nice but again much less can be held in it than my old one. Fifth, the humidity sliders on the crisper bins don't seem to be adjustable. This may not be a big deal. The freezer space is good. Most of all this fridge keeps the temperature, is quiet and hopefully will last a long time. While minor, it would have been nice if this model had adjustable glass shelves. That would accommodate the different sizes of items (bottles) that are now way under on the door shelf. Bending down is not that easy to get stuff. One of the reviews on line showed the door handles not lined up. I think that is because of the weight of the stuff on the door shelf and bins. Mine did not do that but I can see a slight misalignment starting. The bottom door seems much less "sturdy" of lighter than the freezer door. However, Whirlpol is a good product and the repair man said it was one of the better products out there. The stainless steel look is very nice. This is not the non smudge proof model. If you are looking for a good workable top freezer model, go with this one. You won't be disappointed.
